Petrified Wood is ancient wood that has transformed into stone through a process called permineralization. Over millions of years, buried trees are protected from decay while mineral-rich water slowly replaces the organic material with minerals like quartz. The result is a beautiful fossil that preserves the original wood's grain, rings, and texture while becoming solid stone.
Metaphysically, Petrified Wood is known as a stone of grounding, stability, and deep ancestral wisdom. It encourages patience, resilience, and steady growth, reminding us that lasting transformation takes time. Connected to the Root Chakra, it helps create a sense of security, supports emotional balance during times of change, and strengthens our connection to the Earth. Many people work with Petrified Wood when seeking stability, healing generational patterns, or building strong foundations for the future.
It's one of my favourite stones because it beautifully reminds us that transformation doesn't have to be rushed—sometimes the most profound changes happen slowly, one layer at a time.
